How to create a darts tournament bracket

  1. Choose the player count. Enter any number from 2 to 128, including an odd number.
  2. Select the draw type. Use a seeded draw to protect the strongest players or a random draw for a blind draw tournament.
  3. Enter the players. Add one name per line. For a seeded draw, list Seed 1 first and continue in seed order.
  4. Set the match format. Choose legs or sets and customise later rounds when the final should be longer.
  5. Generate and run the tournament. Record scores, advance winners and print or save the finished bracket.

Seeded draw or random draw?

A seeded darts bracket places the strongest players in different parts of the draw, reducing the chance that they meet immediately. If the tournament requires BYEs, the highest seeds receive them first.

A random darts draw shuffles every entered player. Any required BYEs are also assigned randomly. This works well for casual pub competitions, blind draws and events where no ranking list is available.

How BYEs work with odd player counts

A knockout bracket normally fits a power of two, such as 8, 16 or 32. When the player count falls between those numbers, the first round needs BYEs. For example, a 13-player tournament uses a 16-slot bracket and therefore needs three BYEs. A player receiving a BYE advances without playing an opening match.
