Should You Buy the Darts the Pros Use?

How to use professional player darts as inspiration without choosing on reputation alone.

How to use professional player darts as inspiration without choosing on reputation alone.

What a pro model tells you

A signature dart shows a player's preferences in barrel length, diameter, grip, weight and balance. Those specifications are more useful than the name printed on the packaging.

Why copying a pro can go wrong

Players differ in grip position, release and throwing pace. A short barrel designed around a compact grip can feel awkward to somebody who spreads their fingers across a longer section.

Use pro darts as a starting point

If you like a professional's setup, compare it with barrels sharing the characteristics you actually want. A slightly different model may suit your hand better.

Choose specification over status

The best purchase is the dart that fits your throw. If that also happens to be your favourite player's model, even better.
